Date Night Challenge: Shoe Horses
Use a laundry basket or something to toss the shoes into. Standing about 10 feet away, take turns tossing the shoes into the basket. Outside and touching is 1 point. Inside is 2 points. After you both have launched the shoes, count up the number of points you each have.
The player with the most points in a round gets to choose how you toss the shoes in the next round (eyes closed, backward, etc.).
Every time you win a round, you can give your partner one task to do (kiss forehead, hug, 30-second message, fill up my glass, etc.). You can even dare them to do something with the blow-up hobby horse in your box. For example, you can dare them to "go to the end of street riding your hobby horse." Play until someone gets to 21 points!
Featured Recipe: Fools Gold in Love Brownies
Letter from the founders:
This recipe is perfect for two partners in crime huddled around a campfire counting s'more bounty they could have ever dreamed of!
But as true bandits, you can't just have your treasure out in the open, or the sheriff will find it! So in honor of stashing your bounty, we've picked a recipe that challenges you to hide away some of the things you treasure most about your partner the best way we know how: using brownies and candy!
Ingredients
- 1 18.3 oz box of brownie mix
- ¼ cup crushed graham crackers
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 bags of candy (see challenge below)
- 1 bag miniature marshmallows
- 2 6" baking pans
Instructions
Run to the store together and get all the items on the list to make your brownies. As you are checking out, split up, and have you each choose one secret candy from the checkout section that reminds you of your partner's best qualities in some way. Make sure to keep your choice a secret!
When you are ready to bake your brownies, preheat the oven to 350ºF. Combine your brownie mix, crushed graham crackers, water, oil, and egg. Mix by hand until smooth. Separate evenly into two bowls. Without your partner looking, take the candy you each picked up and chop it up into tiny pieces, mixing them into your batter.
You each must then evenly distribute the batter into your nonstick or greased 6"x6" pan.
Bake brownies for 22-28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Then, remove brownies from the oven. Make sure not to overcook. If your brownies are too dry, this next step will make them overdone.
As soon as you take the brownies out, turn your oven to the broil setting. Retrieve your pan. On opposite ends of the kitchen, sprinkle chocolate chips and top generously with a layer of mini marshmallows.
Once you both are finished, place your brownies back in the oven for 1-2 minutes, just long enough for the marshmallows to brown.
Take out and cut into pieces. Serve your partner a big piece of the brownie you made for them, and turn on your favorite western movie.
As you eat, explain the candy you chose and why it represents all the golden things you love about your partner!
