Date Night Challenge: That's Amore
We all love in some for or another, so with this month's bonus activity, we are challenging you to create and order your very own "relationship pizza."
First, take out a piece of paper and a pen. On your paper, create four different sections and label them CRUST, SAUCE, CHEESE, and TOPPINGS.
Using the prompts below, create your perfect relationship pizza, and then find a local parlor to help you bring it to life!
Pick a crust thickness based on how long you've been together: thin crust for under a year, traditional crust for between one and five years, and thick crust for over five years.
Together, decide the type of sauce (red, white, pesto, or any other) that best describes your first date. You can define that however you'd like. The goal is to talk it through together.
To decide what kind of cheese you will cover your pizza with, think back to your first kiss. Together, reminisce about your first kiss and talk through how it came to be. Was it sharp or mild? Was it soft and passionate? Or quick and crumbly? Come up with a few adjectives that define your first kiss that might also represent a type of cheese, and then use those words to think of cheeses you might put on your pizza.
Now comes the fun part! Think of at least four different qualities about your relationship with your partner that you both hold closest to your heart. What are the four qualities you both always look to as the strength of your relationship? Taking those qualities, choose a topping that represents them. Again, use your imagination to help link the two together. The purpose of this challenge is for you and your partner to help each other.
Once your relationship pizza is finished, find a local pizza place that will make it for you!
Featured Recipe: Peachy Perfect Pizza
Pizza is so amazing, even your sweet tooth will want to join in on the fun! This month, we have an ultra-decadent peach pizza you and your partner can serve up à la mode for your next date night in.
- 4 medium-sized peaches
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- Premade refrigerated pie crusts
- Your favorite flavor of ice cream
Preheat your oven to 425°F. On a piece of parchment paper, roll out your pie crusts and create two 7" circles. Place parchment paper onto a rimmed baking sheet.
Skin and slice your peaches into 1/2" thick slices and add them to a large bowl. Add your flour, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar, gently stirring together.
Arrange the peaches on each pie crust, forming a circle around the center. Make sure not to include too much excess peach juice or it might overflow your pizza. Leave 2" of dough border along the outside of each pie crust. Top each with three or four dollops of butter.
Fold the edges of your pizza and pinch the overlapping edges together, representing your pizza's crust. Brush crust with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Place your pizzas in the oven and bake for about 18 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Once complete, allow to sit for 10-15 minutes, top with your favorite flavor of ice cream, and enjoy together!
