October kicks of the holiday season. The weather is getting cooler which means more movie nights snuggled up on the couch! Below, we created our list of the 10 best Halloween date night movie to watch with your boo!
We did have a couple of guidelines. We tried to stay away from anything that had too much gore or blood and we didn’t pick anything that was considered “horror”. We want date night to be fun, entertaining, and romantic!

Okay, so this Eddie Murphy movie probably won’t make many people’s top 10 list, but we had to add it in honor of our Haunted Mansion date box theme. It does have some good elements of family and relationship growth, so that’s a plus! But either than that, it’s just a filler.
Depending on who you ask around the Crated with Love HQ, Beetlejuice may be ranked in the top 3, but it’s an acquired taste for sure. If you enjoy weird, off-the-wall, dark humor, you just must add Beetlejuice to your list!
Not super Halloween themed, but Jaws is definitely a classic. I mean, can you think of another movie that had as much influence over society when it comes to fear? Raise your hand if you’re afraid of sharks…
In the next installment of “What the heck did I just watch?”, we have David Bowie in the Labyrinth! Fun fact, Jim Henson (creator of the Muppets) directed this flick, so you KNOW the puppeteering skills are on point!
Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp are definitely the most popular people on this list. Coming in at #6 is yet another Tim Burton film.
An absolute classic! It’s funny, spooky, and watching Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and Peter Boyle (Everybody Love Raymond) do a duet is just delightful! It’s Alive!
“Don’t expose him to bright light. Don’t ever get him wet. And don’t ever, ever feed him after midnight.” You had three simple rules… It’s a good thing Gizmo is so cute!
Tim Burton’s adaptation of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman is a good mix of entertainment and classic Halloween folklore.
We KNOW you are singing it. Just take a moment to finish…No Halloween date night movie night would be complete without Bill Murray and the rest of the Ghostbusters gang!
We know…we know…many of you are yelling at your phone because Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie. But is it really? Why did we pick it? Well, firstly, for all the movies Danny Elfman composed for Tim Burton, he finally got his moment to let his voice shine as a singing Jack Skellington, and we love Danny Elfman. But that’s just one of the many reasons we placed The Nightmare Before Christmas as our #1 Halloween date night movie! It’s got love and romance, spooky ghouls and creatures, and it’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season (by getting us just a tad closer to Christmas).
