With summer just around the corner, we’re starting to get in that island state of mind! What better way to prepare for summer than with fun island themed drinks to go with our latest date night box, Escape the Island.

Here are five of our recommended drinks for you to try out:

Mi-Ty (Mai Tai)

To start our list, we’re going to go with the classic Mai Tai but with a twist on the name for our founders, Tyler and Michelle Turk.


  • Garnish with maraschino cherries, pineapples, or orange slices!

Directions: Mix the dark and light rum, orgeat syrup, and orange and pineapple juice in a cocktail shaker with ice cubes or crushed ice. Pour into a glass. Float the triple sec on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon. Garnish with the pineapple wedge and cherry. Drink up and enjoy!


Captain Morgan’s Freaky Tiki

If the sun is out, then the rum is out!


Directions: Build cocktail in tall glass including the Captain Morgan rums, top with club soda and stir. Pour over ice and garnish with lime!


Pat O’Brien’s Hurricane

A New Orleans classic, this drink will certainly make you feel like you’re hunkering down for a hurricane in the Gulf. The Hurricane is fruity, delicious, and easy to make! Just as the name says, this drink is as powerful as a hurricane, so be sure to have a few snacks on hand as you’re sipping on one!


  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/4 ounce grenadine
  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce Bacardi® 151 rum
  • 1 ounce amaretto almond liqueur
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Pineapple juice

Directions:  Fill a tall 3/4 full with ice. Pour all the alcohols in first, then follow with equal parts of grapefruit and pineapple juice.
Serve and enjoy!

Blue Hawaiian

If you’re ready for some fun in the sun, sit back and enjoy this drink that’s almost too pretty to drink. Just as blue as the Hawaii waters, this drink will surely take you on a tropical getaway!


  • 1 1/2 ounces of sweet & sour
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 1/4 ounces light rum
  • 1/2 ounces blue Curacao
  • Pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry for garnish

Directions: Pour sweet and sour, pineapple juice, rum, and Curacao into a mixing glass, add ice and shake for 30 seconds. Transfer into a tall glass, garnish, and drink up!


Piña Colada

“If you like Piña Coladas, and getting caught in the rain…”


  • 12 ounces or light or gold rum
  • 2 ounces coconut milk
  • 2 ounces fresh pineapple juice

Directions: Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake, and strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. If you prefer this drink as a smoothie, you can blend all the ingredients with crushed ice instead. Garnish with a cherry and a pineapple wedge.
