Hey everyone! It’s Bri here, and I am going to be talking to you about something we all desire. No, it’s not chocolate, pizza, or money… it’s appreciation!
It definitely goes without saying that we all desire to feel loved, appreciated and valued. Well guess what? Your significant other is no different! Just think of everything they have done for you! Why not thank them for it? Let them know that you’re appreciative of all of their efforts and how they have positively impacted your life! If you’re stuck on ways to show them some love, here are a few ideas that I’ve compiled that can help you show your appreciation for that special someone!
1. Write it out!
Leave a sticky note on their mirror, steering wheel, fridge, in their lunch or even in their purse/briefcase that lets them know how much you appreciate them! Not only will this brighten their day, it will show them that their actions aren’t going unnoticed. You can also write up a sweet love letter and mail it to them! They will surely appreciate the break from bills and credit card offers, and it lets them know that they are on your mind! Our friends over at My Sticky Quotes making leaving notes even more special! You can try them out in our Stuck on You date!
2. R E S P E C T
Aretha Franklin said it best! Or should I say, sang it best? All you need is, “Just a little bit!” Respect goes a LONG way, and it’s important that you show your partner respect at all times. You can show respect by being supportive, truthful, honest, and by discussing your concerns with them first. Doing these things lets your significant other know that you genuinely care about them and you are willing to put them first. True appreciation!
3. Eye Contact
How does eye contact help show appreciation? It all goes back to putting them first. Giving your complete attention to them while they talk shows that, at that moment, nothing in the world is more important than them. You’ll show that you appreciate what they have to say and that you are happy to be there to listen.
Chuck the cellular, toss the tablet and just listen. Technology can be a HUGE distraction, as well as a barrier within relationships. Set aside time to just unplug from your tech usage and spend some one-on-one time together.
5. For all my foodies out there, this one’s for you
You know what they say: The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach! That goes for us ladies too! After a long, hard day at work, surprise them with a nice, thoughtful, homemade meal! Put on your creative chef hat and get to cookin’! The meal can be as simple as a plate of pasta, or as extensive as a three-course dinner (like the gum on Willy Wonka, minus you having to turn into a blueberry)! It’s the thought and effort that counts.
The most important rule? Don’t show appreciation just for the credit. Be genuine, supportive, and creative. Let your special one know how awesome they are by showing how much they mean to you! Share your story with us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram!
